Job Title
Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Ortho/Bariatric/Colorectal Post-Op)

Chesapeake, VA
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Days | 3x12 or 4x12 Hours (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) | Onsite | Every other weekend, floating, and holidays required
Key Responsibilities
Provide post-operative nursing care for orthopedic, spinal, bariatric, and colorectal surgery patients on a 28-bed elective surgery and Level III trauma unit
Monitor and manage telemetry patients, with unit capacity for up to 8 telemetry patients
Care for Level III trauma patients and Medical-Surgical overflow patients as census permits
Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic electronic health records system
Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to ensure safe, high-quality patient outcomes
Required Qualifications
Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission — no exceptions
Minimum of two years of recent, relevant Registered Nurse experience
Previous travel nursing experience required
Proficiency in Epic EMR — no exceptions
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience in post-operative orthopedic, bariatric, or colorectal surgical nursing care
Strong telemetry and EKG interpretation skills, including rhythm identification, interval measurements, and complex arrhythmia recognition
Comfort working with a patient ratio of 1:7
