Job Title

Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Neuro & Stroke)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) | Every Other Weekend Required | Up to 26-Week Assignment

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to adult patients presenting with embolic and hemorrhagic strokes, seizures, and neurosurgical conditions including shunt revisions, tumor removals, craniotomies, and cranioplasties
  • Perform IV starts, port access, PICC and central line management, peripheral IV care, blood product administration, and PCA and heparin protocol management
  • Monitor and manage patients via remote telemetry, interpret dysrhythmias, and participate in Rapid Response Team activations as needed
  • Deliver care aligned with AHA guidelines for Comprehensive Stroke Center designation, including CVA care, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury management
  • Manage respiratory support including high-flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula oxygen therapy, and tracheostomy care
  • Provide post-operative neurosurgical care including surgical drain management, continuous bladder irrigation, feeding tube care, and isolation precautions
Required Qualifications
  • Active South Carolina RN license or multistate compact license (pending licenses not accepted)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in a Medical Surgical/Telemetry or Neuro/Stroke unit
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
  • Demonstrated competency in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and neurological patient care
  • Ability to complete pre-assignment testing and required online modules within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience caring for pre- and post-neurosurgical patients including craniotomy and cranioplasty cases
  • Familiarity with Comprehensive Stroke Center protocols and AHA stroke care guidelines
  • Prior travel nursing experience accepted; first-time travelers are welcome to apply
