Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care across all types of med/surg patients, including post-operative surgical (hips/knees) and potential overflow psych patients on a 24-bed unit
Maintain patient ratios of 4–5:1 while delivering safe, high-quality nursing care
Administer and monitor heparin drips and other ordered medications and treatments
Utilize remote telemetry tech monitoring and document care accurately using EPIC EMR
Serve in a charge nurse capacity as needed and float across multiple campuses within the regional health system
Adhere to holiday coverage expectations, including working 1–2 of the upcoming winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) unless the unit is closed
Required Qualifications
Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission
Minimum 24 months of current Med/Surg or Med/Surg Telemetry experience
Charge nurse experience required
BLS certification from AHA (American Heart Association) or ARC (American Red Cross) required
EPIC EMR experience required
Experience caring for post-operative surgical patients (hips/knees) required
Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (verified by driver's license)
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience caring for psychiatric patients (unit may receive overflow psych patients)
Preceptor experience
Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months
Willingness and ability to extend beyond the initial 13-week contract
