Contract (13 Weeks) | Full-Time | Onsite | 12-Hour Day Shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM) | 36 Guaranteed Hours per Week
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care on a high-acuity cardiac and medical-surgical telemetry unit with a 41-bed capacity and a day shift ratio of 1:4–5
Monitor and interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKGs, managing patients with conditions such as AFib with RVR, AFib, flutter, heart blocks, CHF, COPD, sepsis, and post-ablation care
Initiate and titrate drips including antiarrhythmics, Heparin, aminophylline, Cardizem, Tikosyn, and Amiodarone
Perform and manage PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain care, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), and nephrostomy tube management
Float within skillset to other campuses (up to approximately 11 miles away) with a minimum of 2 hours notice; mid-shift float within the same campus is also possible
Participate in precepting of students and new hires as required in a teaching hospital environment
Required Qualifications
Current, active compact RN license
American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification
NIHSS certification
Minimum 2 years of strong cardiac/telemetry experience
At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment and Trauma Level II experience
Recent EPIC charting experience (checkoff class will be required)
Must pass telemetry competency testing upon placement
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience managing dialysis patients and heart catheterization cases without interventions
Familiarity with BH/CIWA protocols
Strong assessment and critical thinking skills with demonstrated ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
