Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Telemetry Float

Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care across a Medical Surgical/Telemetry float pool covering multiple units including Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Observation
- Manage an adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses including cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, oncology, renal, urology, general surgery, gynecology, psych/detox, ENT, and general medicine conditions
- Titrate Heparin drips and manage RT equipment including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP as required
- Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6 based on acuity, with nurse aide support available on units
- Float across facilities within a 60-mile zone radius, with facility assignments communicated via schedule or Just-In-Time (JIT) notification 1–2 hours before shift start
- Adhere to scheduling requirements including 6–9 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule and potential holiday rotation participation
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure in the state of Kansas (or compact license eligibility)
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical/Telemetry experience within the last 3 years
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Ability to float to varying acuity levels including ICU (low-acuity holds within skillset), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele units
- Must be available in-state for the full week of orientation, even if initial modules are completed remotely
- Must be able to obtain housing within a feasible distance to support floating throughout the full 60-mile zone
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a neurological nursing setting
- Familiarity with Alaris infusion pump systems
- Experience with EPIC electronic health records
