Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Contract | Nights | 4x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit, managing patient-to-nurse ratios of 6–7:1 on nights
- Perform phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement as mandatory competencies
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias; manage cardiac drips (no titration) and administer blood products
- Manage IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, PCA, feeding tube care, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), and wound care including wound vac
- Provide care for patients with orthopedic diagnoses including fractures and osteoarthritis, including post-operative total joint replacement patients
- Float between like units as needed to meet facility staffing requirements
Required Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered New York State RN license required prior to submission
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience in Medical Surgical / Telemetry
- BLS certification required
- Proficiency in phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement
- Experience with Epic EMR (hard requirement)
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with external CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), and tracheostomy management
- Familiarity with orthopedic trauma and total joint replacement patient populations
- Experience with peripheral line care and management in a telemetry setting
