Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care on a Respiratory/Oncology Med-Surg unit, including care for chemotherapy patients, chronic ventilator patients, and general medical-surgical patients
• Work in a telemetry setting managing general med-surg patients and moderate volume orthopedic surgical cases, including total joint ortho patients
• Perform cardiac monitoring duties including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, on-unit telemetry monitoring, and remote telemetry monitoring
• Administer and manage IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, and heparin protocols
• Provide respiratory and thoracic care including tracheostomy management, chest tube management, HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP, and non-invasive airway management
• Cover every other weekend; no on-call requirement; may float as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active California RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required; minimum 2 years of Telemetry and Med-Surg experience required
• California clinical experience is required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale
• Must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips; advanced EKG exam required prior to start (80% minimum passing score, two attempts permitted)
• Total joint orthopedic surgical experience required
• Local candidates accepted at the travel rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for oncology patients including those receiving chemotherapy
• Experience managing chronic ventilator-dependent patients
• Familiarity with cardiovascular care including post-cardiac angiogram, post-MI, and pre/post cardiac cath and cardiac surgery patients
• Experience with vasoactive and cardiac drip management (no titration required)
