Provide direct patient care on a 34-bed Cardiac Renal Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit serving a patient population that includes post-cardiac procedure patients (heart cath, ablation, pacemaker), A-fib RVR, ESRD, CHF, sepsis, tracheostomies, nephrostomy tubes, CBI, renal biopsy, and behavioral health/detox patients
Perform telemetry monitoring and 12-lead EKG interpretation, including passing required telemetry competency testing
Manage cardiac and other IV drip therapies (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, Lasix, Protonix, etc.) and perform recovery of heart catheterizations (femoral/TR bands)
Perform PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, central line care, CBI management, and CIWA/detox protocol management
Float within skillset as needed, including to a sister campus location within Indiana and potentially a Kentucky campus, with a minimum of 2-hour notice provided for cross-campus floats
May precept nursing students and new hires as this is a teaching facility
Required Qualifications
Current, active RN Compact License required
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
Minimum of two years of strong cardiac/telemetry nursing experience
At least one prior travel nursing assignment and Trauma Level II experience required
Preferred Experience / Skills
Recent experience with EPIC electronic health records (competency check-off will be required upon start)
Strong assessment and critical thinking skills with demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-acuity cardiac and renal patient populations
Experience with CIWA protocol and behavioral health/detox patient management
Demonstrated resilience, adaptability to change, and strong interpersonal skills in a team-oriented environment
