    Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

    Quincy, IL

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Night Shift | 3x12-hour shifts starting at 7:00 PM | Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday) | Holiday rotation with core staff

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced inpatient Medical Surgical and Telemetry unit with up to 48 beds, utilizing a primary care nursing model
    • Manage a diverse surgical patient population including post-operative total joint replacements, neuro-surgical cases, vascular surgery, and general abdominal surgeries
    • Administer and monitor TPN, lipids, IV antibiotics, PCA pumps, and occasional epidurals; titrate heparin drips per protocol
    • Interpret telemetry strips using Draeger monitoring equipment in collaboration with telemetry monitor technicians
    • Implement sepsis management protocols and administer narcotic and reversal medications (e.g., Narcan) as indicated
    • Manage high-volume surgical admissions and discharges, with up to 8–12 surgical admissions possible per shift
    Required Qualifications
    • Active RN licensure in good standing
    • Minimum 1 year of surgical nursing experience required
    • Total joint replacement experience (hips and knees) required
    • Current BLS certification required
    • Current NIHSS certification required
    • EPIC EMR experience required
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience with vascular surgery patients including fem-pop bypass, dialysis catheter insertions, and amputations (BKA/AKA)
    • Familiarity with CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow respiratory equipment in a non-ICU setting
    • Experience caring for dialysis patients in an inpatient environment
    • Comfort working in a high-acuity, high-volume surgical environment with frequent admissions and discharges
