We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-acuity Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele) unit with Progressive Care Unit (PCU) crossover responsibilities. This role involves caring for patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring, post-cardiac intervention recovery, and complex medical management.
The unit functions as a mixed-level care environment, combining Med Surg, Telemetry, and PCU patients. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong assessment skills, proficiency in cardiac monitoring, and the ability to manage a 1:6 patient ratio in a fast-paced acute care setting.
Key Responsibilities:Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a mixed MS/Tele and PCU setting.
Monitor, interpret, and document cardiac rhythms, intervening promptly when changes occur.
Administer and manage cardiac drips (no titration) and other intravenous medications.
Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line management (including PICC lines).
Manage oxygen therapy, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and other respiratory interventions.
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including physicians, respiratory therapists, and physical therapists to optimize patient outcomes.
Participate in Rapid Response and Code Blue situations as required.
Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding care plans and discharge processes.
Document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the Meditech charting system.
Maintain compliance with infection control, safety, and quality standards.
Attend and complete a mandatory five-shift clinical orientation week (36–40 hours).
Preferred Experience & Skills:
Experience in Rapid Response or Code Team participation
Post-MI and pre/post-cardiac cath care
Orthopedic trauma and total joint replacement experience
Exposure to telemetry oncology and chemotherapy monitoring
Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
Experience in stepdown/intermediate care (PCU/DOU/IMC)
Patient Ratios: 1:6 (Days, Nights, and Weekends)
Float Requirement: Yes (within scope of competency)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Block Scheduling: Not available
Charting System: Meditech (preferred)
Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
Support Services: Respiratory Therapy, Physical Therapy, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, Unit Secretary, and Rapid Response Teams
Orientation: Mandatory clinical orientation (36–40 hours first week)
