Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry
LocationTowson, MD
Schedule / Job TypeContract | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3x12) | Every Other Weekend Required | Holidays Required as Scheduled | 10-Week Assignment
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio serving adult, geriatric, and select adolescent populations
- Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms and perform EKGs as needed
- Care for post-operative patients following complex procedures including total joints, spine fusions, foot and ankle, head and neck, colorectal, hepatobiliary, urology, and GYN surgeries
- Manage IV therapy, PCA, PCEA, capnography, and wound vac equipment
- Utilize bedside shift report, HCAHPS practices, white boards, and secure text messaging platforms for communication and care coordination
- Float within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
Required Qualifications- Active Maryland RN license or active Compact RN license at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience; candidates with a minimum of 1 year of experience and strong skills may be considered for first-time travelers
- General surgery and/or orthopedic nursing experience with demonstrated strong clinical skills
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only)
- Current NIH Stroke Scale certification
Preferred Experience / Skills- CPI certification (Calm Every Storm online version is the only acceptable online vendor)
- Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation basics
- Experience with PCEA, capnography, and wound vac management
