Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Contract | Nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 36 or 48 hours per week | 13–20 week assignments available
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
Monitor and interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias; manage and respond to cardiac events utilizing Rapid Response and Code teams
Perform and manage IV therapy including peripheral lines, central lines, PICC lines, and phlebotomy; administer blood products and medications including heparin, insulin, and PCA
Manage respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
Provide wound care, ostomy management, feeding tube care, chest tube management, and pre/post hemodialysis care
Float to a nearby campus as required and participate in storm, hurricane, and disaster response teams as assigned
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg or Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license
Current BLS certification
NIHSS certification
Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start
Ability to work every other weekend and 2 of 3 major holidays; no block scheduling (except weekend blocks)
Preferred Experience / Skills
ACLS certification; experience with on-unit telemetry monitoring, post-angiogram, post-cardiac surgery, post-MI, and IV insulin protocols
Experience with tracheostomy care, continuous bladder irrigation, port access and management, ABG interpretation, and surgical drain management
Background in bariatric surgery, CVA care, substance withdrawal management, or pre/post thoracic surgery
Previous charge nurse experience, community hospital background, and proficiency with electronic documentation
