Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty License: Compact or state license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Epic experience required Previous charge experience preferred Description: Please ensure you are aware of the following: Upon accepting an assignment and starting your role, your unit manager may assign you to an "Emergency Team." There will be an expectation to remain at the facility during emergency events or to be part of the relief team. Specific details regarding pay will be provided for each emergency event, as impacts may vary. By signing your travel contract, you accept these terms and will report as assigned by your immediate unit manager if an emergency event occurs. You should not apply if you are not comfortable with these responsibilities. This unit is focused on high acuity patients, including COVID care and pronation therapy. Experience with continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) is essential. You will participate in special procedures including vasopressor titrations. Familiarity with special equipment such as CRRT dialysis is necessary. Patient ratios in this unit are 2 to 1 for both day and night shifts. This unit may overflow surgical intensive care unit patients at times. There are interdisciplinary support services including rapid response teams and unit secretaries. It is crucial to possess skills such as central line management, care of ventilated patients, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure. You should be comfortable with interpreting arterial blood gases and managing dysrhythmias. Further, you will need experience in procedural sedation administration and monitoring. Infection prevention methodologies should be understood and applied in practice. Phlebotomy skills are also necessary for this role. All candidates must have the required certifications in a PDF format. Please ensure all certification documents are up to date. References are not required for submission, but two supervisor contacts will be necessary for clearance to start the contract. Charge RNs are not acceptable for this position.
