Description:
Offering up to 26 weeks.
MUST be available for the first 8 days of assignment.
Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:4 based on acuity.
Patients may include a mix of PCU and ICU depending on care needs.
Vent patients are typically in a 2:1 ratio.
High acuity patients may require 1:1 nursing care.
Staff will work every other weekend.
Requires floating to other ICU and Med Surg units as needed.
Typical nurse to patient ratios in med-surg areas are approximately 5-6 patients per RN.
Patient diagnoses include COPD, encephalopathy, drug overdose, DKA, AKI, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, and A-fib.
Special procedures performed may include CRRT, HD, A-Line placement, CVC placement, trach placement, and chest tube placement.
Must be proficient in cardiac monitoring and emergency response.
Experience in managing multisystem organ failure is necessary.
Involvement in IV insulin protocols is required.
Skills in GI surgery and management of chronic or acute renal failure are essential.
Experience with arterial line management and blood product administration is needed.
Candidates should be able to interpret dysrhythmias and manage IV therapy.
Responsibilities include care of ventilated patients and interpretation of ABGs.
Management of sedation and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips is required.
Unit has an average of three ventilated patients per day.
The team should collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary support services.
Scheduled lab work should be completed within the assigned timeline after signing.
References from supervisory roles are required.
