Job Title: Medical ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1.5 years of ICU experience required; 2 years preferred License: Valid RN License Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA) Must-Have: - Strong background in medical patients and critical care - Ability to be flexible, critically think and reason - Team-oriented and personable Description: This position involves providing care for critically ill patients. Responsibilities include caring for ventilated patients and initiating and titrating IV drips. You will assist with intubations and line placements. Monitoring critically ill patients with primary diagnoses such as sepsis, respiratory failure, renal failure, and myocardial infarctions is required. This is a mixed acuity unit, with both ICU and progressive care patients. Travelers will care for both types of patients, with a focus on progressive care patients. The unit utilizes Phillips heart monitors, Epic (EMR), Pyxis, EKG machines, and dopplers. You will work in a team-based environment, ensuring patient safety and care quality. Travelers may float to other units, maintaining a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio. The typical nurse-to-patient ratio for progressive care is 1:3 or 1:4 and for ICU is 1:2 or 1:3. Caribbean blue scrubs are required, with black, white, or Caribbean blue jackets. Onboarding includes reviewing policies and obtaining Epic training.
