Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Active RN experience in ICU/MICU required License: Valid RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Active RN experience in ICU/MICU Certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS Description: 12-hour night shifts available from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Every other weekend is required. Floating to other units may be required based on need. Patient population consists of adults. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1. Scrub color is navy blue. Common skills and responsibilities include: Ventilator management. Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips. IV sedation and neuromuscular blockade. Arterial lines and central lines management. PICC line management and blood product administration. Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Dysrhythmia interpretation and 12-lead EKGs. Hypothermia protocol and stroke care. BiPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) management. Arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation. Wound vac management. Isolation precautions and infection prevention. Equipment used includes: NxStage CRRT, Alaris IV pumps, GE cardiac monitors, and GE ventilators. Additional support services include: IV team, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and pharmacy. Other available services are radiology, social services, rapid response team, and transportation. Interdisciplinary support is provided by nurses, nurse practitioners, and anesthesia services. Patient diagnoses include multisystem organ failure, respiratory failure, liver failure, and sepsis. Special procedures in the unit include continuous glucose monitoring and externalized IV management for COVID-positive patients.
