Responsibilities include using the nursing process to provide patient care. Candidates will evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by direct care givers. Coordination of patient care with other departments is essential. Maintaining patient rights and confidentiality is mandatory. Duties are to be performed in alignment with established guidelines of nursing practice. Patient care will include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for various age groups. Monitors and coordinates care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient comfort. Floats to other stepdown units may be required based on staffing needs. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting patients. Exposure to blood and body fluids is a significant risk. The ideal candidate should demonstrate accountability in patient care provision. Expected patient conditions on the unit include sepsis, respiratory issues, cardiac arrest, GI bleed, renal failure, and more. Professional standards and accountability for patient care are critical elements of this role.
