Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical-Surgical

Job Summary

Join our dedicated team as a Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse in an acute care facility located in Lancaster, Ohio. This vital role involves providing comprehensive, compassionate, and patient-centered care to a diverse adult patient population within a dynamic Med-Surg unit.

The Med-Surg RN is responsible for applying the full scope of the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care. This includes managing patient conditions, administering medications, providing patient and family education, and collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and adherence to established clinical guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans utilizing the nursing process.
  • Provide direct patient care, including accurate medication administration and therapeutic treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Monitor patient conditions, interpret vital signs and diagnostic results, and promptly notify physicians of pertinent observations or changes in patient status.
  • Educate patients and their families/significant others on health conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions to promote self-management and continuity of care.
  • Maintain thorough, concise, accurate, and legible documentation of all aspects of the nursing process and patient care activities in the electronic health record.
  • Delegate appropriate tasks to and supervise the work of other healthcare personnel (e.g., Nursing Assistants) in accordance with scope of practice and facility policies.
  • Ensure the availability and proper functioning of necessary equipment and supplies, reporting any malfunctions to the appropriate department.
  • Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and established clinical guidelines to ensure safe and high-quality patient care.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Diploma, Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)).
  • Licensure: Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio.
  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Registered Nurse in a Medical-Surgical setting.
