Description:
This position is for a Medical Surgical Neuro nurse.
The shift schedule is two 12-hour night shifts from 19:00 to 07:30.
Call requirements are not applicable for this role.
Weekend work is required every other weekend.
Holidays worked will also be every other holiday.
The unit has a total of 27 beds and provides care for Ortho/Neuro, Med/Surg, and Oncology patients.
Patients are monitored in a telemetry room but there are no cardiac gtts.
Typical patient demographics include stroke patients, those recovering from back surgeries, and patients who have undergone hip or knee replacements.
Oncology patients currently undergoing chemotherapy are also part of the patient population.
The overall daily census is approximately 26 patients.
Daily patient ratios for nights are typically around 6-7 patients per nurse.
This role involves extensive patient care and monitoring, including but not limited to:
- Administration of blood products
- Central line management
- Monitoring of chemotherapy
- Care for post-operative patients
- Management of dysrhythmias
- Use of telemetry for patient observation
Interdisciplinary support includes Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Social Services, and others.
Travelers are expected to float within the facility or to nearby affiliate locations based on patient volume.
All travelers must also complete a series of modules before the start date.
This role is considered sensitive regarding professional conduct and any issues may lead to immediate contract termination.
Travelers cannot be locals; they must reside at least 50 miles away from the facility.
Candidates should be prepared to work any of the three major holidays during peak times.
All certifications must be obtained prior to the start of the position.
Experience with the Cerner charting system is a requirement.
Emergency response and wound care skills are also essential for this role.
