Job Title: Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical (RN)

Department: 624F Acute Medical Unit – Med/Surg

Assignment Details
  • Duration: 13 Weeks

  • Schedule: 3x12-hour Night Shifts (36 hours/week)

  • Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

  • Days: Sunday–Monday (Rotating Schedule)

Candidate Requirements
  • No local candidates within a 50-mile radius will be considered.

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Medical/Surgical nursing experience required.

  • Required Certification: American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).

  • Preferred Certification: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).

Unit Overview

The Acute Medical Unit is a 34-bed Medical/Surgical unit that provides care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. The unit features all private acute care rooms with telemetry capability and delivers comprehensive patient care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Patients admitted to the unit present with a wide range of acute medical and surgical conditions requiring skilled nursing assessment, monitoring, and treatment.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to Medical/Surgical patients with a variety of acute medical and post-operative conditions.

  • Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, telemetry, and changes in clinical status, and communicate findings promptly.

  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.

  • Coordinate patient care with physicians, case managers, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, discharge planning, and ongoing care.

  • Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR).

  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and changes in patient condition while ensuring patient safety and quality care.

  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards, regulatory requirements, and professional nursing practice guidelines.
