Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: State or Compact license required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS, Travel experience preferred Must-Have: Charting System Experience: Epic Previous Charge Experience: 2 years Patient Ratio Experience: 6 Description: This position is for a general neuro unit. The shift is 3x12 hour nights. The patient population consists of ages from young adult to geriatric. Priority admission is given to patients requiring medical-surgical level monitoring, interventions, and care. The major types of patients include both medical and surgical patients, as well as those with neurology or neurosurgical diagnoses. The unit is equipped with telemetry and oximetry monitoring. Patient ratios are expected to be 1:6. The unit consists of 19 private rooms with a daily census of approximately 20. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation. Required skills include accessing and managing ports, blood product administration, central line care and management, and monitoring chemotherapy. The role involves caring for patients with renal failure, initiating and maintaining IVs, and performing wound care.
