Description:
The unit has a total of 34 beds with a patient ratio of 6:1.
Staffing includes tech support on both day and night shifts along with a unit secretary from 07:00 to 19:00.
Available equipment includes IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse oximeters, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, and bladder scanners.
Documentation is managed through a Meditech system.
Scheduling requires three 12-hour shifts per week, including two weekends, for a total of four shifts in a four-week schedule.
Contract labor is the first to float, with a rotation policy for other staff when multiple contract labor employees are scheduled.
Staff are expected to provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and their family members.
The unit promotes bedside shift report and encourages personal connections with patients and family members in their plan of care.
The unit has certifications in comprehensive stroke care, is an ACS verified Level II trauma center, and is recognized as a certified chest pain center.
The dress code consists of navy scrubs, including both tops and bottoms.
