The unit has 18-20 beds and a staff of approximately 35. On day shift, the unit typically has 1 charge nurse, 2-3 registered nurses, 1 LPN, and 1-3 PCTs. Night shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 3 registered nurses, 1 LPN, and 1-2 PCTs. Patient ratios are 6:1 with LPN support. Equipment used includes Hoyer lifts, air taps, wound vacs, and PCA pumps. The electronic medical record system is Meditech. Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of hospital medical-surgical experience. BLS certification is required, while burn care and wound care experience are preferred. Typical procedures performed on the unit include wound and dressing care for post-operative patients. The ideal candidate is a team player with a positive attitude.
