Description: The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team. This team includes licensed and unlicensed caregivers ensuring high quality, safe patient care. Clinical environments are administered by Nurse Managers and supported through a Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by a Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core values. All RN Clinical Nurses must be licensed and knowledgeable. They uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Professional Nurse Practice Act. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards set forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, the individual upholds the voice of the patient and system policies and procedures. Support for service excellence goals is essential. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Performs the Nursing Process, including assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Uses evidence-based practice and critical thinking to ensure individualized care. Coordinates care through effective partnerships recognizing the importance of caring in achieving optimal patient outcomes. Provides relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with specific population characteristics. Partners with patients and significant others using appropriate methods for communication and care. Practices according to current clinical practice standards. Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care to promote professional care delivery. Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration while practicing in a fiscally responsible manner. Participates in performance improvement activities and supports research to promote safe and quality patient care. Completes all required professional competency assessments and mandatory education. Serves as a preceptor or mentor for other nurses and staff. Promotes evidence-based practice and nursing research participation. Participates in data collection and uses resources to address practice questions. Plans for patient care across the continuum during direct patient care. Participates in the development of protocols in collaboration with care managers and other health care team members. Supports the efficient use of human and material resources. Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all policies and standards of work.
