Must-Have:
Able to perform basic patient assessments.
General care and maintenance of wounds, tracheostomy, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, strokes, and seizures.
Patient population may require dialysis or PCA pumps.
Only drip medication is Heparin.
Post-op procedures on the unit include amputations, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, oral surgeries, and wound vacs.
Description:
The unit has a total of 36 beds.
Patient ratios are 1:4 to 1:5.
There is a secretary available every day, along with PRN techs.
The type of equipment used includes PD cyclers, Welch Allyn VS carts, Hoyer lifts, Broda chairs, and Alaris IV pumps.
The documentation system in place is Meditech.
Scheduling requires 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week block.
Floating policy available for staff.
Patient experience requirements include bedside shift report and safety checks every 1 to 2 hours, with a focus on communication and responsiveness.
HAI prevention guidelines, CVC and Foley monitoring with standard precautions, and fall prevention measures are implemented.
Medication scanning, including controlled substances, is mandatory.
The team values great teamwork and has a youthful group eager to complete tasks that enhance patient outcomes.
Charges are supportive and experienced, allowing for smooth introductions to the unit.
