Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience License: RN license Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Ortho experience, Telemetry experience, NIHSS certification preferred Description: The unit has a total of 23 beds. Patient ratios are typically 1:4 or 1:5. Unit staffing includes unit secretaries and patient care technicians. Equipment used on the unit includes traction devices, fixators, and cooling equipment. The documentation system utilized is Meditech. Scheduling consists of three 12-hour shifts and three weekend shifts per schedule period. Floating policy states that contract labor is the first to float to other MedSurg level care units. Patient experience standards include bedside shift report and hourly rounding. This unit is a designated Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center. Advanced skills required include ortho experience and telemetry. Procedures performed on the unit include postoperative knee, hip, and shoulder replacements, as well as care for trauma patients. Some neuro overflow may also be managed on this unit. NIHSS certification is preferred for potential candidates. Dress code requires navy scrubs. Unit policies and guidelines will be provided to prospective candidates.
