The staff consists of 75 members. The staffing includes one charge nurse, eight registered nurses, three patient care technicians, and one unit clerk on the day shift. The night shift consists of one charge nurse, eight registered nurses, and three patient care technicians. Patient ratios are typically 5-6 patients per nurse. The unit is equipped with traction equipment, external fixators, halos, walkers, gait belts, bed alarms, continuous pulse oximetry, and remote telemetry monitoring. The electronic medical record system utilized is Meditech. The hiring profile focuses on travel registered nurses, local certified nursing assistants, and sitters. Candidates without the required skills will not be considered for the role. Preferred candidates will have NIH certification. Typical procedures performed on the unit include wound care and dressing changes. The required dress code includes scrub color of royal blue. Staff rotate through every third weekend and some weekends may be every other depending on leave of absence. Shift times are from 0645 to 1915 and 1845 to 0715.
