Job Title: RN II-MED-SURG Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical-Surgical Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: One year of medical-surgical experience required License: Current RN license in state of practice required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Must-Have: Current Epic experience required Description: Responsible for the planning, coordination, and provision of nursing care to patients on the medical-surgical unit. This position is responsible for addressing age-related physiological, emotional, and cognitive needs of patients across various age groups. Duties include care planning, monitoring vital signs, administering medication, and assessing physiological changes and psychosocial needs. The role includes supervising and delegating care responsibilities to ancillary personnel in line with their scope of practice. Provides appropriate nursing interventions in both stable and emergent patient situations. Competent in all routine nursing skills, including medication administration, intravenous therapy, and care & maintenance of catheters and drains. Ensures the safe use of medical equipment commonly used in the medical-surgical setting. Initiates multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plans for each patient in collaboration with healthcare team members. Educates patients and/or their families about care, using methods suitable for the patient's age, condition, culture, and learning readiness. Evaluates the effectiveness of care provided and completes timely documentation of all nursing care delivered. Actively participates in the orientation and training of new employees and ancillary staff. Identifies opportunities to improve care, services, and unit operations. Remains open to change and strives to achieve new goals for the unit. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
