It comprises a 122-bed acute care facility, providing exceptional care in various medical, surgical, and outpatient services. Job Summary: Perform the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. Coordinate, manage, provide, and delegate patient care. Responsible for meeting established Standards of Nursing Practice, and promoting cooperation among the health care team. Essential Functions: Assure patients' personal needs are met. Assist in reducing noise levels of the nursing unit. Show commitment to co-workers. Work as a team to assure all patients have their needs met. Maintain patient, co-worker, and hospital privacy. Documentation must be clear, concise, and legible. Deliver clear, concise reports. Complete all assigned quality monitors as directed by department manager. Follow infection control guidelines. Obtain history/physical assessments according to nursing protocol for all age groups. Review medical history, physical examination, and all available assessment data. Identify abnormal diagnostic data and report to the appropriate person. Provide information needed to begin discharge planning in a timely manner, to the appropriate personnel. Recognize signs and symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress, or other impending emergencies. Demonstrate knowledge and ability to effectively function in Code Blue and other emergency situations. Accurately administer and chart medications according to hospital policies and procedures, adhering to patients' rights. Implement and/or assist others in executing and documenting educational plans. Assess patients' educational needs. Assist in the development and education of new staff members. Attend and participate in staff meetings. Complete education, training, and competencies for department-specific skills. Successfully adapt to changes in the unit, environment, and workflow. Assure all patient charge items are charged and documented correctly. Utilize department resources appropriately. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
