Job Title: RN Med Surg Profession: Nursing Specialty: Agency Staff RN Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Registered Nurse (RN) - State Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (within specified time frame) - Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Strong time management and organizational skills - Ability to make quality, independent decisions - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines - Strict levels of confidentiality - Competency in various computer systems Description: Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State. Demonstrates competency through the nursing process which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes. Provides evidence-based nursing care consistent with the interprofessional plan of care and in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. Communicates and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to ensure continuity and coordination of care. Acts as a patient and family advocate. Performs point-of-care testing as required. Demonstrates a high standard of moral, ethical, and culturally sensitive behavior. Formulates decisions based on ethical principles using the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. Advocates for privacy and confidentiality of patient information. Assesses the overall needs of the patient and analyzes assessment data to identify potential diagnoses or issues. Identifies expected outcomes and develops an individualized interprofessional plan of care. Evaluates patient and family educational needs while assessing progress toward goals. Initiates patient discharge planning at the onset of patient contact and facilitates transition to the next point of service. Ensures documentation is accurate and timely. Assumes a leadership role and delegates appropriately to assistive personnel. Continually seeks to advance knowledge related to nursing practice. Participates in ongoing improvement activities that contribute to quality patient care. Actively participates in safety initiatives and completes all required competencies. Performs additional duties as assigned.
