Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Medical/Surgical nursing experience required
  • AHA BLS certification required

Unit Overview

The Fifth Floor Gastrointestinal (GI)/COVID Medical/Surgical Unit at Northside Hospital Forsyth is a 34-bed acute care unit providing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. The unit consists of all private patient rooms with telemetry monitoring capability and specializes in caring for GI and COVID-related medical/surgical patients.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical is responsible for delivering safe, patient-centered nursing care in a fast-paced acute care environment. The RN will assess patient conditions, develop and implement care plans, administer treatments, and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to Medical/Surgical patients with GI and COVID-related conditions
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor patient progress
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments per physician orders
  • Monitor telemetry patients and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized patient care plans
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge planning
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record documentation
