Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse / Ortho Trauma & General Surgery – North Carolina
Start Date: October 26, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), 36 or 48 hours per week available. Every other weekend required. No call. Float required to similar units and alternate care locations.
Highlights:
- Contract lengths from 13-26 weeks available
- Patient population includes orthopedic trauma, neurological trauma, spine injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and general surgery overflow
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Epic charting system with Pyxis and SBAR protocols
- Comprehensive orientation: 28 total hours (12 hours unit-specific, 16 hours organizational education)
- Interdisciplinary support including IV teams, rapid response, respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, and lift teams
Requirements:
- Active North Carolina or Compact RN license
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- Ortho/Neuro/Trauma experience required
- Must be comfortable with 1:5-6 patient ratios
- Charge experience preferred
- First-time travelers accepted
- Skills required: blood product administration, central line management, chest tubes, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, PCA pumps, heparin drips, external fixators, wound care/wound vac, and tracheostomy care
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Must complete EKG testing prior to start date

- Pre-start online modules required (approximately 8-10 hours, non-billable)
