Travel Nurse RN - Medical-Surgical - $1,930 per week in Bossier City, LA

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical/Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience required License: Must possess a valid nursing license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: Traveler will be required to pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival. ACLS ability to read cardiac strips is essential. Experience with chest tubes, peritoneal dialysis patients, and cardiac drips is required, but titration is not necessary. Wound care conducted as directed by wound care nurses is needed. IV initiation and point-of-care testing are required. Description: This position requires a registered nurse to work in a fast-paced medical/surgical unit. You will care for patients who are waiting for transplants, recent transplant recipients, or those with a history of transplants. Common diagnoses include congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, altered mental status, and diabetic ketoacidosis. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5 for both days and nights. You will support patients in an environment with minimal resource additional support as needed. You will collaborate with charge nurses, resource nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care. Charting is done using an electronic medical records system. Weekend rotation is every other weekend with a schedule of 4 days one week and 3 days the next week. The role includes a commitment to work during two out of three major holidays. Approvals for time off must adhere to policies regarding days off and blackout dates that are specified. Uniforms consist of pewter scrubs, with specific guidelines for t-shirts and jackets. Badges must be worn in full view at all times. Travelers may float to other units within their scope of practice.
