Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: RN State licensure Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH, EKG competency Must-Have: Candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role. Description: The unit comprises a total of 17 beds. Staffing typically includes a minimum of 7 staff members per shift, depending on patient census. Night shift consists of 1 charge nurse, 6-7 RNs, and 1-2 PCA or sitters as needed. Patient ratios are based on acuity, with 1:2 or 1:4 for step-downs or bed holds. Common types of equipment used on the unit include ventilators, CRRT, monitors, and IV pumps. The electronic medical record system utilized is EPIC. Travel RNs, local CNAs, and sitters are highly sought after for this unit. Skills that are essential for the role include RN State licensure, ACLS, BLS, NIH certification, and the ability to pass EKG competency for rhythm interpretation. Candidates with experience in ICU or critical care are preferred. Typical procedures performed on the unit include intubation, CRRT, TTM, stroke tPA administration, foley catheter insertion, CPR, defibrillation, and cardioversion.
