The nursing process is the basis for care and includes assessment of biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning factors. Planning and prescribing nursing interventions, implementing them, and evaluating care rendered completes the nursing process. The Registered Nurse must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan. Possession of the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s age and status and interpret the appropriate information needed to prescribe and provide care is essential.
