Description:
The position is for a registered nurse in an acute care med surg unit.
The unit contains 44 beds with a staff of 40.
Nurse-to-patient ratios are generally 1:5, possibly extending to 1:6 for both day and night shifts.
Communication involves working with nurse aides, who have an approximate ratio of 1:8 to 1:10.
Shifts run from 7 AM to 7 PM with a requirement to work every other weekend.
Floating to other acute care and cardiac units is expected to manage medical or emergency care patient holds.
Weekend and holiday work is also required as needed.
General orientation lasts one week, including training on the electronic medical record system.
Floor-specific orientation is provided over two days.
Candidates should be proficient in using electronic medical records, preferably Meditech, though experience is not mandatory.
