Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med/Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS certification Must-Have: Med/Surg experience, ability to prioritize care, multitask, start IVs, perform basic wound care, maintain surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes. Description: The unit has 34 beds with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 6:1. There is tech support available on both day and night shifts. A unit secretary is present from 7 am to 7 pm. Equipment used includes IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse oximetry machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, and bladder scanners. iMobile communication technology is also utilized on this unit. The documentation system in use is Meditech. Staff is expected to work 3 shifts of 12 hours per week with 2 weekend shifts included in a 4-week schedule. Contract labor is prioritized for floating, with a rotation system for multiple staff scheduled. Nurses are required to provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and family members. Bedside shift reporting is standard, and making personal connections with patients is essential. Understanding of the patients' and family members' involvement in their care plan is crucial. The unit is recognized as a Comprehensive Stroke and ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, as well as being a Certified Chest Pain Center. There are no advanced skills required for this assignment. The dress code consists of navy scrubs for tops and bottoms. Candidates are encouraged to consider the unit's new equipment and technology, along with the tenure and experience of the staff and available schedule options.
