Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (06:45 - 19:15) Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: State or compact licensure required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Travel experience required Previous charge experience preferred Charting system experience required Description: Travel experience is required. Schedule is determined at the unit manager's discretion. Patient ratios on days and weekends are 6:1. This unit cares for post-surgical patients, including those recovering from bariatric surgeries, colon resections, thyroidectomies, hernia repairs, appendectomies, gallbladder surgeries, and various biliary issues. The unit may also take medical-surgical patients, but there is a heavy post-surgical presence. The team includes interdisciplinary support such as physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. Candidates must be aware that float requirements may exist within the hospital. Experience should include skills in managing care for patients with surgical drains, tracheostomies, and various other post-operative needs. Additional responsibilities include administering blood products, managing IVs, and providing care for feeding tubes and central lines.
