Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Active RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS required Must-Have: - Recent Med/Surg RN experience in a hospital setting - Ability to work with pediatric/adolescent patients as needed Description: Med/Surg Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. Responsibilities include consulting and coordinating with health care team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. Prepare and administer medications as prescribed and document appropriately. Report adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with policy. Educate patients on surgical procedures. Record patients' medical information and vital signs accurately. Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, interpreting and recording electronic displays. Initiate corrective action whenever the patient displays adverse symptoms. Provide bedside care for a variety of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgery patients. Initiate patient education plans as prescribed by the physician. Teach patients and significant others how to manage their illness or injury. Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs as required. Prepare equipment and assist during examinations and treatment. Respond to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocol. Participate in discharge planning. Utilize time management skills effectively. Record all care information concisely, accurately, and completely in a timely manner. Perform other position-related duties as assigned, depending on the assignment setting.
