Description:
The unit has a total of 28 beds.
The nurse to patient ratio is 1:4-5.
Common diagnoses include general medical patients such as sepsis, COPD, bowel obstructions, and CHF.
RNs are required to titrate insulin and heparin drips.
Telemetry monitoring is centralized; RNs will need to read their own strips.
There are no telemetry techs available on the unit.
Charge nurses do not take an assignment.
There is one CNA for every 10-14 patients.
RT equipment includes CPAP and established BiPAPs only.
The primary shift is from 0600 to 1830.
Weekend and holiday work is required.
Staff may be floated to other areas as needed.
The dress code requires professional colors.
Unit-specific orientation will be provided.
The cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled per 13-week assignment.
The charting system used is EPIC.
