Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 Year Medical Surgical experience required License: Must have a valid nursing license prior to the start date Certifications: BCLS, NIHSS Must-Have: First time travelers accepted Every other weekend required Floating to other Medical Surgical units required Preferred experience with Cerner charting system Description: Indiana residents are not accepted. Charge pay is now offered. Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays. The staffing ratio is 1:5-6, modified for the night shift. The patient population includes adults with diagnoses such as stroke, CHF, dementia/delirium, cellulitis, COPD, psych, withdrawal, end-of-life care, COVID, and dialysis. The unit consists of a 26-bed adult medical unit. The team is comprised of registered nurses, patient care assistants, unit secretaries, and a charge nurse. Interdisciplinary support includes IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Social Services, and Pharmacy. Special procedures for the unit may include blood product administration, central line blood draw, feeding tube care and management, and isolation precautions. Candidates must have experience in blood product administration, IV management, peripheral line care, and phlebotomy. Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment are essential. Candidates must float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals. Temporary licenses may be obtained once permanent license applications are submitted. Two supervisor references are required.
