Registered Nurse (RN) - Med-Surg
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Med-Surg for a facility located in Lancaster, Ohio. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population within a dynamic medical-surgical environment. The successful candidate will be integral to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
The Med-Surg RN is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care. This includes collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, directing support staff, and ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
Administer medications and perform treatments accurately and safely, adhering to physician orders.
Provide thorough, concise, accurate, and legible documentation of the nursing process and patient progress.
Educate patients and their families/significant others from admission through discharge.
Monitor patient status, identify changes, and promptly notify physicians of pertinent observations.
Delegate appropriate tasks to co-workers and supervise their implementation of care.
Ensure the readiness of equipment and supplies for patient care, reporting any malfunctions to the appropriate department.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment, reporting any unsafe conditions.
Required Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Diploma, Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)).
Preferred Qualifications
Previous Registered Nursing experience.
Skills & Competencies
Clinical Skills: Proficient in the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation), medication administration, wound care, vital sign monitoring, patient education, and accurate documentation.
Equipment: Proficiency with standard medical equipment relevant to a Med-Surg unit.
Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, critical thinking, problem-solving, ability to make independent decisions, manage multiple priorities, demonstrate empathy and integrity, work effectively in a team, maintain professionalism under pressure, keen observation, and accurate reporting.
