Experience with titrating drips (Cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, argatroban is a plus)
Description:
This is a Float Pool position where flexibility is essential.
You will float to various units in the facility where MedSurg patients are located.
Patients may include those in the general medical surgical oncology unit.
You will care for oncology patients and patients receiving chemotherapy, although administering chemotherapy is not required.
Some pediatric patients may be present, but you will not be required to take care of them.
Common conditions managed include cellulitis, GI bleeds, CHF, and COPD.
Surgical cases may involve gallbladder, appendectomies, colectomies, ostomies, and TURPs.
In the ortho/neuro observation unit, cases may include total hips, total knees, spinal surgeries, and strokes.
Cardiac patients post-procedure such as those who have undergone catheterization or cardioversion will also be seen.
Patient ratios are typically 1:4-6 during the day and 1:6 during the night.
Support staff includes a Charge Nurse who may take a full or reduced patient assignment.
Healthcare team members available include tele monitoring staff and hospitalists who communicate through secure channels.
You will be required to manage tasks such as peripheral lab draws and handle difficult IV accesses with support from designated resources.
Experience with the EPIC charting system is required.
Scheduling includes weekend rotations every other weekend with shifts starting at 1845-0715 and 0645-1915.
The schedule is organized 4-6 weeks in advance.
Holiday work may be expected for about 50% of the holidays within the contract period.
A professional appearance is required, with any solid color scrubs permitted.
