Shift Type: Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, rotating 12-hour night shifts; schedule set by manager; every other weekend required; holidays as needed; first-to-float on occasion
Hours per Week: 48
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a MedSurg/Oncology unit
- Administer chemotherapy as part of the core oncology team following protocols
- Titrate IV drips such as Lasix and Heparin safely and per guidelines
- Perform stroke assessments using NIHSS and participate in acute stroke care
- Document assessments and interventions accurately in EPIC
- Collaborate with charge nurses, monitor techs and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
- Troubleshoot BiPAP and support established trachs while working with respiratory therapy
- Support patient and family education, discharge planning and transitions of care
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma acceptable
- BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Med-Surg and Oncology clinical knowledge
- Telemetry and cardiac monitoring familiarity
- IV drip titration and set-rate drip management
- Chemotherapy administration procedures and safety
- Stroke recognition and NIHSS competency
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
- Strong assessment, critical thinking and patient communication skills
- Teamwork, flexibility to float, and ability to work in a fast-paced acute care setting
