Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 5 years License: Pending License accepted Certifications: BCLS, ACLS Must-Have: Will need to pass Relias EKG exam. Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required. Experience in Med/Surg, blood product administration, peripheral line care/management, and phlebotomy. Skills in starting IVs, insulin management, PCA, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injury. Familiarity with orthopedic trauma and total joint replacements. Knowledge of surgical drains, chest tubes, and various forms of oxygen therapy. Experience with isolation precautions, wound care, and wound vac management. Level 1 trauma experience is required. Description: The position requires a registered nurse in the medical surgical trauma specialty. The nurse will care for patients primarily referred from the emergency department, operating room, or intensive care units. Responsibilities include managing geriatric trauma cases, including patients 55 years and older. The nurse will also handle various acute care surgeries such as appendicitis, gallbladder procedures, and hernia repairs. Experience with trauma cases involving abuse, violence victims, motor vehicle accidents, and falls is essential. The unit utilizes special equipment, including lifts, restraints, and wound vacs. The daily census ranges between 50 to 55 patients, with the unit featuring approximately 63 beds. Interdisciplinary support on the unit includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Travelers will float within the service line to meet facility needs. Weekend requirements include working every other weekend as scheduled.
