TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Saint Louis, Missouri, 63110!

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of medical-surgical experience License: Pending License accepted Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Excellent care provision skills - Strong documentation skills - Teamwork orientation - IV skills - Phlebotomy skills Description: This position is in a medical-surgical unit. Candidates must provide excellent care to patients. Excellent documentation skills are required. Candidates must have a desire to work as part of a team. IV skills and phlebotomy are required. Candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of medical-surgical experience. Patient ratios are typically 1:4-6. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Certifications required include BLS and ACLS. Skills needed include medical/surgical nursing, telemetry remote monitoring, colostomy care, feeding tube management, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care and management, phlebotomy, PICC line management, and starting IVs. Knowledge of heparin, insulin, and PCA administration is also necessary. The following drips are administered on our unit: - Heparin - Lidocaine (pain only) - Bicarb - Bivalirudin - Amiodarone (stable non-titrated) Candidates should have basic knowledge of telemetry. Special procedures include foley catheter placement, continuous bladder irrigation, and protocols for colorectal patients. Additional requirements include passing an EKG exam for interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Interdisciplinary support is available from various teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams. Daily census is approximately 32 patients. The unit typically handles diagnoses such as ostomy, colon resection, colon cancer, bladder cancer, GU issues, and high turnover surgery patients.
