Travel Nurse RN - Medical-Surgical - $2,164 per week in Oakland, MD

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS required, NIHSS required for all RNs and LPNs, ACLS and PALS recommended but not required Must-Have: Strong medical-surgical background due to a variety of patients Description: The unit currently accommodates 32 beds, although it is operating with 20 beds due to staffing constraints. Nurse-to-patient ratios must not exceed 5 patients per nurse. The unit may care for patients with diagnoses including chest pain, congestive heart failure, pneumonia, abdominal pain, pancreatitis, orthopedic issues, detoxification, post-operative surgeries, and pediatric patients. Common medications and procedures can include, but are not limited to, CPAP and BiPAP. Respiratory Therapy will assist and manage patients requiring high flow oxygen. There is no requirement for RNs to titrate drips. Although ICU monitors are utilized, RNs on this unit are responsible for documenting and utilizing the information provided by the monitors. A house supervisor makes assignments for nurses and aides, and there is no designated charge nurse on the unit. The unit has three nurse aides scheduled per shift. Floating to assist other units may be required as needed. 12-hour shifts run from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, and extra shifts may be available. Weekend work is required every other weekend. The holiday rotation is shared among regular staff. Self-scheduling can be discussed with management. Additional training and orientation will be provided, including a tour and introductions. All staff should adhere to the dress code, avoiding camouflage or orange scrubs.
