Travel Nurse RN - Medical-Surgical - $2,164 per week in Oakland, MD

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: MedSurg - Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS required, ACLS and PALS recommended Must-Have: Strong MedSurg background Description: Unit has 32 beds but currently operates with 20 due to staffing challenges. Nurse to patient ratios will be no more than 5. This unit utilizes both RNs and LPNs. Common diagnoses include chronic pain, congestive heart failure, pneumonia, abdominal pain, pancreatitis, orthopedic issues, detox cases, post-operative care, and pediatric patients. The unit can accommodate a variety of patients but does not take laboring moms or titrate cardiac and insulin drips. RNs are not required to titrate drips on this unit. The telemetry monitors used in this unit are ICU monitors. Nurse to read and document strips based on transmitted data. There is no charge nurse; a house supervisor makes assignments for nurses and aides. There are nurse aides available with a ratio of three per shift. Respiratory therapy equipment available includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen. The unit requires floating to assist other units as needed. Shifts are scheduled for 12-hour blocks from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM, with extra shifts potentially available. The manager is open to accommodating scheduling preferences. Weekend requirements are every other weekend. Holiday requirements rotate with regular staff. There are no call or standby requirements. Scrub color is flexible, with some exceptions. Unit-specific training and orientation will include a review of policies and procedures. Training typically lasts 3 to 5 days on the unit.
