Job Title: Charge Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Required Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: Driver's license Description: Charge Registered Nurse for night shifts. Ideally, they do not take patients, but they will take patients if staffing is short. This is considered a last resort. They may also take patients if the census is less than 22, though this is rare. RN's must pass a skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%. If the RN does not pass, termination will occur. Artificial nails are prohibited in departments providing patient care. Refusal to remove artificial nails will lead to termination of contract. Implementing a dyad model means that the nurse will have their own CNA and support from a virtual nurse. The nursing ratio for Medical/Surgical is now 1:6 or 1:7. The CNA ratio is also 1:6 or 1:7. The virtual nurse will have a ratio of 1:30. There are 42 beds in total. Staff will take a 1:6 ratio at least once a week. Common diagnoses include medical, surgical, and orthopedics. There is a Charge Nurse on each shift. The Charge Nurse may take an assignment as well. No titratable drips are available, except for Heparin. Respiratory Therapy is available 24 hours on the floor. There are telemetries on the floor, monitored by a centralized Tele station. Patient care techs are present on this unit. Their ratios are 1:6 or 1:7. Shifts are scheduled from 0630 to 1900 and 1830 to 0700. Weekend and holiday work is required as needed. There are no call or standby requirements. Floating may be required to PCU or Burn units. Dress code requires navy blue scrubs. First week consists of classroom training followed by two 12-hour shifts on the floor. RTO must be provided upfront, with no additional time off approved after submission. Cancellation policy allows for cancellation of up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
