Job Title: Med Surg RN - Urology/Nephrology Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years' experience required in medical/surgical nursing. License: Must have an active nursing license. Certifications: BLS required. Must-Have: - Solid foundation as an RN if new to travel nursing. - Experience in Med/Surg or related nursing areas. - Ability to float within the facility as needed. Description: This position is for a Med Surg RN specializing in Urology/Nephrology. The shift is during the day, operating from 06:45 to 19:15. The unit has an average daily census of 23 patients with a total of 25 beds. Weekend work will be required every other weekend. The RN should have experience with telemetry, emergency response, and managing hemodialysis patients. Skills in IV therapy and phlebotomy are essential. Experience with medication administration, specifically Heparin, is required. The RN should be knowledgeable in respiratory care, including managing CPAP/BiPAP and chest tubes. Familiarity with isolation precautions and wound care is expected. Experience with Cerner charting is necessary. The patient population consists of adults with various urology and nephrology illnesses, including kidney transplantation and complications. The RN will provide care for patients recovering from major surgical procedures and those requiring complex medical management. The role involves collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Floating to other medical surgical units may be necessary to meet facility needs.
